sovanta at SAP TechEd in Berlin

Our team was on site at TechEd in Berlin. For many colleagues, it was a first – after several years of joining exclusively online. So what awaited the sovanta team in Berlin? What were the biggest innovations? And how did we even end up on stage spontaneously? Larissa Haas, Senior Data Scientist at sovanta, captured her impressions from three days with the SAP Tech Community in a detailed review.

Think Big: Six halls full of concentrated SAP tech knowledge

Spread across six halls, TechEd offered three days of inspiring talks, hands-on sessions, discussions, and information booths. Two halls were dedicated solely to presentations and sessions, with a clear focus on high-quality content. Our team especially loved the hands-on sessions. Several rooms were equipped with ready-to-use workstations so attendees could build exactly what was being demonstrated live on stage. We created and deployed real agents, connected Integration Suite flows, developed a RAG, learned from Lead Architects how intent-based development works, and much more. Many of the session materials are still available on SAP’s GitHub and can be tested – our team strongly recommends it.

sovanta on Stage with Document AI

Right from day one, beyond keynotes and product slides, there were plenty of concrete customer examples showing how AI is already simplifying everyday work for many users. As one of the winners of the Pilot Build Program, we were invited spontaneously on stage to share insights from our customer projects:

The conversations that followed were incredibly engaging, and of course, the presentation of new Document AI features excited us as well.

TechEd: What’s new in the SAP tech world

One absolute highlight was the Tuesday evening keynote, where several new SAP innovations were presented. For us, the biggest surprise: SAP-RPT-1. This new foundation model will fundamentally change the work of data scientists. But for which scenarios does SAP-RPT-1 actually make sense? We tried it out directly in the SAP-RPT-1 playground and summarized our findings in a blog post.

Is “narrow” AI dead? The implications of SAP-RPT-1 for Business AI & Data Scientists

This week our team attended SAP TechEd in Berlin where SAP unveiled their latest foundation model called SAP-RPT-1 (read as “Rapid-1”). The key question we’re asking is: What exactly does this mean for businesses, executives and Data Scientists who over the last years have introduced countless narrow AI models delivering business value? Niklas Frühauf, Senior Data Scientist at sovanta, summarized our team’s findings in this blog post.

And there was even more news around Joule, Joule Skills, Joule Studio – where Joule Studio will be anchored in the future – and SAP Build Process Automation. There is a lot of momentum, especially in the area of agents, and it was great for our team to see these updates shared and discussed live.

Our conclusion: If you weren’t there, you missed out

Alongside community talks, the Developer Garage, the Experience Center with autonomous robots, a gaming area, and much more, we especially enjoyed the conversations with participants, customers, and SAP experts. For us, it was a fantastic event with strong content and a great atmosphere. We’re already looking forward to next year!
