This was the sovanta university day 2019

Exciting topics and a successful conclusion

Dec 02, 2019

Last week sovanta AG opened its doors for inquisitive students. They were invited to exciting sessions on the seventh university day. At the get-together that followed, there was the opportunity to exchange ideas with each other and with experts over snacks and drinks.sovanta-Hochschultag_Nachbericht_image-001.jpg#asset:9120

Insights into the world of sovanta

Our experts presented five topics. Data Scientist Larissa Haas introduced students to everyday life in the sovanta Data Lab: "What we do in the Data Lab is really cool, but no magic." Haas explained what it means to analyze, transform and automatically understand data. With practical examples the students got a look behind the scenes.

In our showroom, we offered the opportunity to experience virtual and augmented reality up close. Peter Bresic from the Development Unit chaired the session: "The areas of augmented and virtual reality have not only been well received in gaming, but are also increasingly perceived by companies. As early adopters, we would like to prepare students for their future by providing insights into these areas of innovation".

Niklas Winterfeld and Dominika Zagorski presented UX Design in their session. They challenged the students with the "Marshmallow Challenge". Cooperation was the key to success. "Knowledge sharing is important to us. That's why we want to promote team building in UX Design."

Antje Liebold brought the topic of project management closer to our visitors. With two examples she showed step by step how an idea can be turned into a concrete application. Liebold herself came to her profession through internships and working student activities. That is why she enjoyed the session especially much.

All subevents were interactive. The lecture by Sven Arndt was no exception. He showed the work processes behind a solution and what the students would expect when they joined the team. After all, "a great many of our employees started out as students," said Arndt.

More than just "let me sniff"

For years sovanta AG has been following the tradition of the University Day, where not only the work is presented to students. Therefore, this year's event also saw a lively exchange of ideas, which was well received by both us and the visitors. Thus, students of the Mannheim University of Applied Sciences described the event as an extraordinary event and an ideal complement to current lecture contents. We look back on a successful event and are looking forward to the next University Day.
