Sven Marten

Sven Marten was born in Karlsruhe in southern Germany in 1969. After studying industrial design at the Darmstadt University of Applied Sciences, he began his career in 1996 as a product designer for the optical industry and the mechanical engineering sector. His focus was on the design of user interfaces and controls.

In 1999, he and his wife founded the “echtweiss” design agency, which executed corporate and editorial design projects. As a freelance product designer, he focused mainly on user interface design, designing an entire spectrum of visual user interfaces, ranging from desktop applications, to portals, intranet solutions and websites, through to mobile applications. After having already designed mobile applications for sovanta AG as an external designer in 2011, he took up permanent employment with the company in 2012 to set up the internal UX/design department.

Now a member of the management team of sovanta AG, Sven is responsible for the design/innovation area and manages the sovanta DesignLab, which has more than 30 specialists from the areas of user research, user experience, interface design, and design thinking. He regularly gives lectures on trends and new technologies and works with students on university-based UX projects.

Besides designing digital applications with an excellent user experience, Sven is also passionate about editorial design. He is the founder and co-publisher of the multiple award-winning cycling magazine called “fahrstil” and was responsible for its design until 2012. The keen cyclist, triathlete, and musician is married, and lives with his wife and two sons in Heidelberg.
