Diego Dora

Lab Buenos Aires

Diego Dora was born on August 29, 1984 in Buenos Aires. He began his education in computer sciences when he was just 13 years old, attending one of only two high schools (Hogar Naval Stella Maris) in Argentina that specialize in computer sciences.

He continued this educational path at the National University of La Matanza, where he was also involved in research activities at the Laboratory of Open Source Technology. Together with his team, he designed and implemented a distributed system for low income schools which wanted to have their own computer-science laboratory.

In early 2006, Diego was hired by Accenture to join its Delivery Center on the SAP workforce, thus beginning his career as an ABAP developer. During the first three years, he worked for several international customers including Tenaris, FIAT Auto, and the Whirlpool Corporation, developing all types of RICEFs and providing production support for many types of SAP systems, such as ERP, CRM, BW, and APO.

In 2008, Diego was assigned to the CIO SAP Program, which was responsible for the upgrade maintenance of Accenture’s SAP ERP. Apart from his excellent daily work in this position, he achieved outstanding results over the four years that followed. Among other things, he was a founding member of the SAP Engagement and SAP CIO engagement team, dedicated to enhancing employees’ lives at the company to retain talent and lower overall attrition.

In June 2012, Diego was appointed as Development Manager of Sovanta’s Labs in Buenos Aires and started building up the team in the areas of web/mobile development, SAP FIORI and UI5, SAP NetWeaver Gateway, SAP HANA, and Cloud Platform.

In 2015, he was appointed as Managing Director of Sovanta’s Labs in Buenos Aires, where he was responsible for running the company in Argentina.

In 2016, he was awarded the title “SAP Mentor”, one of the highest distinctions within the SAP Community Network, for his work as an influencer and contributor to the SAP ecosystem. One year later, Diego was appointed to the Technology & Innovation council at the German Chamber of Commerce in Argentina (AHK), where he advises other members on the latest technologies and how to engage with the IT community in the country.

He lives in Buenos Aires with his wife, where he divides his leisure time between researching new technology topics, writing, and organizing events to promote SAP and open source technologies.
