Alexander Sonnenmoser

Member of the Board

Alexander Sonnenmoser was born in October 1969 in Ravensburg. After his university studies of Business Administration with a focus on Business Informatics at Baden-Wuerttemberg Cooperative State University in Villingen-Schwenningen/Dornier Immenstaad he completed a work stay at MTU in Australia. In 1993, he started his professional career as a Consultant Administration International at Lidl Foundation International. Already three years later, in 1996, Sonnenmoser was appointed to the Management Board Computing/Organization.

After successfully standardizing the Organization/IT internationally as well as the business systems in all divisions and accounting and more than 10 years of responsibility for further development in this area, he assumed overall responsibility for one country in 2005: he became CEO/Chairman of the Norwegian Executive Board and was thus responsible for the areas of purchasing, sales, logistics, real estate, human resources, IT, and administration.

In 2007, he returned to Germany and was promoted to Chief Executive Officer of IT/Organization International with responsibility for business solutions/consulting, process/project management, IT governance and infrastructure as well as service and support. Sonnenmoser was a key contributor to the strong international development of the Lidl Foundation International. In more than 20 countries, he has been actively involved in setting up organizational structures, introducing business processes and establishing IT. Sonnenmoser designed processes more efficiently and supported and accompanied the company during its strong growth.

In 2015, he was appointed Divisional Director Business IT International, with responsibility for over 1,000 employees in 30 countries (EU + US). In addition to logistics and branch systems, he has also established purchasing, sales, business information and administration solutions and driven the IT transformation forward. Moreover, he shaped the areas of collaboration (New Ways of Working) and governance. In this position, Sonnenmoser got to know sovanta AG. As a strategic partner and in the name of the Lidl Foundation International, Alexander Sonnenmoser founded the Integration Center with sovanta AG, a place where Lidl and sovanta employees as well as other strategic partners can jointly work on future-oriented business processes and models, detached from day-to-day business, but in close cooperation with the specialist departments and IT. Under his management, numerous mobile applications were developed for sales, real estate and human resources as well as the first pilot projects around conversational UI - the use of language and bots to simplify business processes.

On 1 July 2019, Sonnenmoser was appointed a member of the Management Board of sovanta AG with responsibility for products, development and data science. Alexander Sonnenmoser is married, has two children and lives with his family in Ludwigshafen on Lake Constance. In addition to his enthusiasm for tennis, water sports and winter sports, he is also interested in architecture and future technologies and is an active volunteer in a club.
